In a tragic incident from Nasarawa State, Gabriel Iliya Magaji, a 38-year-old man residing in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area, has reportedly taken his own life after discovering his wife’s alleged infidelity.
Magaji’s body was discovered hanging in a classroom at Crystal School, Masaka, where authorities suspect he committed suicide. The Nasarawa Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Nansel Ramhan, confirmed the incident to journalists in Lafia on Wednesday.
DSP Ramhan stated, “On Monday, around 7 am, a staff member from Crystal School, Masaka, lodged a report in our Masaka division that an unidentified man was found hanging in one of the classrooms. The DPO and his team responded swiftly, untied the body, and transported it to General Hospital, Mararaba, where doctors confirmed him dead. The body has been deposited in the morgue.”
While no suicide note was found on the scene, a source familiar with the situation disclosed that Magaji took his own life after confronting his wife over claims that she had been sleeping with his friends for money. The source alleged that the wife admitted to her actions, explaining that she resorted to it because her husband couldn’t provide enough for the family. She used the money from his friends to buy food for herself, Magaji, and their three children.
Police investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding Magaji’s untimely death.
